Climbing Angel’s Landing

Zion National Park counts two famous hikes: The Narrows (see yesterday blog) and Angel’s Landing via the North Rim Trail.

Because it gets ridiculously hot during the day (40 degrees), we got up before first light, to arrive at the start of the trail when the sun touched the tops of the highest mesas and mountains.

The hike is steep and streneous, but absolutely gorgeous when the sun is creeping higher and higher to expose more and more of the surrounding mountains.

After a climb of 45 minutes, the last, and most tricky, part of the trip emerged before us. It’s narrow, windy, and we needed to watch our steps to avoid certain death!

But we made it! And the view is dropdead (pun intended) magnificent! A big part of the canyon, cut out by the Virgin river, is now ready to be admired 🙂
