Sail Around – A trip to the Opera House

Last week the Sydney Opera House released a tribute to their famous icon with a cover of Nick Cave’s almost equally iconic Ship Song.  Although a bit theatrical, my heart can’t help but swell with the music as it crescendos and the musicians, mostly Australian, declare their love to the icon’s soaring white sails. If you’ve ever been curious how the interiors look like, take a peek at this video:

Love Martha Wainwright! And Sarah Blasko! Will have to post separately later on my favorite Australian musicians 😉

However, my personal favorite cover version of this song has to be Amanda Palmer’s. So emotional. Can you tell she loves Australia? If you, like me, missed out on watching her perform live in the Opera House on Australia Day, don’t fret, you can still listen to this (and there’s a link to buy the downloads as well):

PS: You can follow Amanda on twitter, she’s a little bit crazy like me, but twotally twitalicious: @amandapalmer

Do you believe in Angels?

When I was growing up,  I collected stamps.
It lasted about 4 days, then I started collecting coins.
That probably lasted until I started collecting headless barbies.  Well, somehow they always seemed to end up with no head.  No head, no fun!

Aaaaanyway, so this guy collects something completely different – and takes pictures of it. I introduce thee to Airline Angels:

If you’ve got any spare uniforms lying around, you know where to send them to 😉

For those of you who have nothing better to do than browse the internet all day (yes you procastinators, you know who you are…), check out the link below.  It’s only the most funniest, geekiest Australian guy on radio – and he actually makes me want to get out of bed on Tuesdays!  Which, considering Tuesday comes after a Monday which comes after a weekend and the next weekend is still 4 days to go, is quite a feat 😉

So here goes my friends, enjoy, sharing is caring, so I must love you all to death:
