Whenever I hear the song ‘my friend’ by Groove Armada, there’s always one person that immediately pops up in my head…
I’ve known my best friend for 12 years, though we’ve been through so much together that really it feels like we’ve known each other a lifetime.
People who work with me think I’m very independent and prefer to do things myself. I am still learning how to delegate things. I was raised with the notion that it’s impolite to ask things for yourself – and when offered something, always first say no. I hate to inconvenience people, least of all my friends.

xmas tree down-under
My mum always decorates the most gorgeous christmas tree and prepares a gigantic sumptuous meal for our little family! On christmas day, my father lights the fireplace and we huddle around watching mellow disney movies!
For me, that’s christmas. Cold outside, our family celebrating and feeling warm inside.
And every year, no matter how tough times were, they made sure there were (too many) presents for me and my sister.
That’s why this year, on the other side of the world, I’m having a little trouble getting into the christmas spirit. But summer holidays are approaching and so yesterday we decorated our tree. No gorgeous pine tree, just the tree in our backyard. With 30 degrees outside it’s hardly that christmas feeling, but it’s made me appreciate my mum and dad all the more for every christmas we spent together.

Him: “Do you have a bed in your office?”
Me: “Oh actually, we do, in the first aid room!”
Him: “First date room?”
Me: “Errmm, no honey, there are no beds in my first date room, you should know that”
