Close encounters of a fishy kind

When I arrived at the beach, a man came running towards me. He gestured enthusiastically. I understood what he was trying to say when I looked where he was pointing at. A pod of dolphins, swimming on our beach! What do you do when you see dolphins? Call Bram of course. So he got to see them too, remotely, via the surfcam 🙂

Had to chuckle when a young dude said “coolest thing I’ve ever seen”. Then an old lady walked over and commented how wonderful she felt. Seeing the dolphins “made her day”. I smiled and said I hoped she’d feel like that all day. And that she should think of the dolphins tomorrow morning when she wakes up.

Funny how giddy everyone was seeing the dolphin family frolick around. It’s lovely to be silly at the right moment!

PS Bad bad video, I promise it looked much better up close 😉

The scariest movie scene that never was

Now winter’s coming, Bram and I have been taking a nostalgic cinematic trip to our childhood.

I can’t remember how many times I watched this movie when I was a kid. It had everything: adventure, spirit, love, witty banter, legend, cheeky jokes and lots and lots of scary scenes. Or at least, I thought so. Because everytime this scene would come up, I would turn around or bury my head in my hands. In my imagination, snakes were all over the place. The monkey brains as well. The scary man would eat them, with some pieces left between his teeth.  Etc. Etc.

Turns out there’s nothing to be afraid of. What else has my vivid imagination scared me into not discovering?
