Europe vs Australia

Sometimes people who plan to visit us, ask if it would be possible to travel around and see all of Australia…in 2 weeks.
Our answer usually is this:

Yes there are 2 big deserts in this country/continent.  But still, if you would like to see the main sights, it would take you at least 8 weeks, traveling in a big 8-shape, going down from Darwin to Adelaide (or up the other way around).  Add to that Tasmania in the south and you could have seen it all in 10 weeks if you like…

My mum always decorates the most gorgeous christmas tree and prepares a gigantic sumptuous meal for our little family! On christmas day, my father lights the fireplace and we huddle around watching mellow disney movies!

For me, that’s christmas. Cold outside, our family celebrating and feeling warm inside.
And every year, no matter how tough times were, they made sure there were (too many) presents for me and my sister.

That’s why this year, on the other side of the world, I’m having a little trouble getting into the christmas spirit. But summer holidays are approaching and so yesterday we decorated our tree. No gorgeous pine tree, just the tree in our backyard. With 30 degrees outside it’s hardly that christmas feeling, but it’s made me appreciate my mum and dad all the more for every christmas we spent together.

This past weekend was all about celebrating Bram as he said “goodbye twenties, hello thirties”.
Even though it was the first time he’d be able to enjoy some sunshine on his actual birthday here in Oz. I knew he’d miss celebrating with most of his friends back in Belgium. Since they are living on the other end of the world I couldn’t really plan surprise calls as day is night and vice versa.
Instead I asked people if they could send in videos and pictures… And boy, were you guys up for the challenge, brilliant! Just goes to show how popular Bram is – and how awesome his friends are of course!
